The Bloomberg Agency has announced that the Federal Open Market Committee of the US Federal Reserve System is to keep the basic rate at 0.25% per annum. Representatives of the FRS announced that the discount rate will remain the same until inflation expectations remains stable and the unemployment level starts decreasing. The last change in the refinancing rate occurred on the 17th of December, 2008 when the Federal Reserve System decreased it to the present level.
