A visiting session of the Public Chamber under the lower house of the Kazakh parliament in Shymkent was dedicated to the examination of the national unity doctrine’s project. A unique ethnic situation was historically formed on the Kazakh land as representatives of 140 ethnic groups and 40 denominations are residing peacefully in the country. Kazakhstan managed to go through the hardest times without any inter-ethnic conflicts. Furthermore, a naturally formed friendship between nations built the foundation for economic growth, which in its turn has become the basis of the doctrine’s project.

Ikram Khashimzhanov, chairman, Uzbek national culture centre of South Kazakhstan region:
- Every representative of national culture centres and all the government officials should follow this doctrine as it reflects the close interrelations between these centres and state bodies so that we can bring up our children to love their country and respect the official language.

The doctrine is being discussed in a very active manner. More than 160 suggestions on clarification of the document’s point have already been submitted by the country’s residents to the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan. All of them will be considered and the most convincing ones will be introduced to the doctrine’s text.

Yeraly Tugzhanov, deputy chairman, People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan:
- The country which takes up serious challenges and is going to chair the OSCE next year should be able to be a unified state. The issues of reverence towards state symbols and strategically significant issues such as the language issue in a multi-ethnic state have to be clearly defined and included into the doctrine.

It was noted during the debate, that after the nation-wide discussion and adoption of the doctrine, it will become one of the fundamental documents of the state national policy.
